Ziele The aim of this course is to prepare engineers and engineering students for working or studying abroad successfully. Participants become aware of their own familiar culture and learning styles, which they often take for granted. Living, studying or working in another culture requires new competencies: knowledge, skills, attitudes and behaviour.
By the end of this course, engineers will be able to apply the most effective strategies for living, studying and working in international and multi-disciplinary professional environments.
Inhalte Culture, communication, learning styles and intercultural competencies.
What is your favourite communication and learning style? Do the Learning-Style-Test, discover the strengths of your learning style, and explore new opportunities by indulging in other learning styles and communication.
What is culture? How does the invisible hand of culture have its impact on our behaviour, our perception and our judgment as professional engineers? How do people from other cultures and professions perceive our communication? What is lost in “cultural noise”?

We will use “Intercultural Sensitivity”, “Frame-of Reference-Shifting” and intercultural competence as effective strategies to gain from cultural and professional diversity.
Methoden Lectures, workshops, individual and group assignments, tests, participation
